The most amazing and important archeological discovery of a fully intact Egyptian pharaoh was discovered by Howard Carter on this day 100 years ago.
Wow this is exciting. I’ve been marking the calendar for this 100 year anniversary for years. Why? Ever since I downloaded and read the book The Tomb of Tutankhamun, Volume I by Howard Carter, which is a splendidly written and suspenseful true account of that day 100 years ago.
I can’t imagine how Howard Carter and his team must have felt as the descended those steps and cracked a peek into the darkness of a tomb that had been sealed over 3,000 years ago. And what an enormous responsibility to the ages to take receipt of those items, catalouging them, carrying for their protection, when the whole world was clamoring for them. History shows in these artifacts the craftsmanship and quality of the early ancients. The same people who built the great pyramids of Giza before, if you believe it, the development of the wheel over 5,000 years ago.
I’ve included the link to Howard Carter’s book in the button above. The button will take you to Amazon where, if you are interested in the exciting first-hand account of how this generation first connected with a 3,000 year old ancient civilization, you can get the book in all formats. I downloaded it on Kindle and read it in one setting (the first time) and re-read it over and over.
