Why would you want to Read or Listen to my books? What I love the most about these books is that they transport me into a world where magic really does exist. Where surprises lay in wait around every corner, every chapter. I love that the geography of the world is elastic, capable of being bent or changed by magical hands. The situations are difficult to predict what will happen next. Even in their badness or goodness, the characters are relatable — none of them are without weaknes, yet all of them are perfect in the qualities that are important to themselves. At any moment something tragic or beautiful will happen.
Real life has none of these things for most of us. Magic does not exist in our routines. It seems we are shocked by others, but not surprised by them anymore. Our geography can only be pliable and changed at high cost to the environment or our pocket books. The doldrums of everyday life, especially through the current crisis, is predictably grim and seldom surprisingly pleasant. The people in our lives are reasonably normal and most of us live our lives without a crusade to fight.
Sometimes it is healthy to pretend and play. Don’t believe me? Carl Jung thought that play therapy is, “an innate striving for wholeness and personality integration that occurs by symbolic identification,” (Jung 1963) The stories in my books were created to take you away from the reality for a few hours. Make you forget about your worries in this world for awhile. To take you on a journey where magic reigns and where anything can happen (and usually does).
I have made my stories avaialbe in your most favorite ways: Paperback, Hardcover (my favorite), eBook, Kindle, and if you don’t like to spend the time reading a book, the series is available on audiobook — which is great for listening in the car, while walking, or travelling.
I want to personally invite you to go to Amazon, Kindle, iTunes, or Audible and get out of world for few mintues. And go to a place where magic sparkles from your fingertips. All you have to do is make a wish, and the wish will come true. Wouldn’t that be nice? I think so.
I think you will too.
Thanks for reading Astar’s Blade.
